Nov. 11, 1999 – Disney’s Broadway musical “Beauty and the Beast” transferred to its new home, the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The musical first opened at the Palace Theatre Apr. 18, 1994.
Nov. 11, 2000 – The 28th Annual Annie Awards ceremony took place at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, Ca. Disney’s “An Extremely Goofy Movie,” “Toy Story 2,” “Mickey Mouse Works,” and “Fantasia/2000” all took home awards.
Nov. 11, 2000 – The 5th Annual “ABC Super Soap Weekend” began in Disney-MGM Studios at WDW.
Nov. 11, 2001 – The touring version of Disney’s musical “Aida” opened at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, Ca. (The show would run until Jan. 5, 2002.)
Nov. 11, 2001 – In honor of Veteran’s Day, a special Flag Retreat was held at Disneyland. Cast Members who are also Veterans of the Armed Forces were invited to participate. Also on hand were the United States Army Southern California Recruiting Battalion and Grand Marshals from the Anaheim Veterans of Foreign Wars & the American Legion Post. The Disneyland Band provided music as the American and Californian Flags were lowered and folded.
Nov. 11, 2003 – Starting on this day “Disney’s Wildfire Heroes Salute,” offers firefighters, law enforcement and rescue personnel 9who battled the recent Southern California wildfires) an opportunity to enjoy complimentary, 3-day admission into Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure. The special salute will run through March 31, 2004.
Nov. 11, 2003 – On this day the President of the U.S. signed into law a list of resolutions, and bills that rename federal facilities. Among the bills: H.R. 1610, Walt Disney Post Office Building, Marceline, Missouri. (A ceremony renaming the Marceline post office would be held Aug. 23, 2004).
Nov. 11, 2004 – The new shop Mickey’s Mart – “Everything Ten Dollars and Under” opened at Downtown Disney Marketplace in WDW.
Nov. 11, 2004 – The “Turtle Talk!” with Crush attraction opened in The Living Seas Pavilion in Future World at Epcot.
Nov. 11, 2005 – The “ABC Super Soap Weekend” kicked off at Disney-MGM Studios at WDW.
