Oct. 8, 2001 - Journey into your Imagination ride closed for rehab to rework some scenes and add Figment back in, and reopen as Journey into Imagination with Figment
Oct. 8, 2002 – “Walt: The Man Behind The Myth” was released on DVD.
Oct. 8, 2002 – A special edition of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” was released on DVD.
Oct. 8, 2003 – Over at Epcot, the “Wayne Brady Show” was taped at the American Gardens Stage. Guests included tennis star Serena Williams, soap opera star Cameron Matheson, astronaut Jim Lovell, and members of the original Brady Bunch show.
Oct. 8, 2003 – At Disneyland, “The Golden Horseshoe Variety Show” performed it’s final show at 5:30pm after more than 4,000 performances. Guests at the final performance included Wally Boag, star of the original “Golden Horseshoe Revue” for over 27 years.
Oct. 8, 2003 – The Magic Kingdom hosted a live performance of the Brian Setzer Orchestra on the Castle Forecourt Stage. Afterwards the park officially debuted a new pyrotechnic show called “Wishes.” The WDW premiere included an introduction by Julie Andrews.
Oct. 8, 2003 – “Mickey’s PhilarMagic” had its official grand opening in the PhilarMagic Concert Hall at WDW’S Magic Kingdom. Pop idols Howie Dorough of “The Backstreet Boys,” Joey Fatone of “NSYNC” were on hand for the premiere.
Oct. 8, 2003 – “Wishes,” the new pyrotechnic show debuted at the Magic Kingdom in WDW.
Oct. 8, 2004 – The “6th Annual Disney 10K Classic Weekend” began at the Wide World of Sports Complex at WDW (3-day Event)
Oct. 8, 2004 – “Halloween,” the 15th “Phil of the Future” episode, aired for the first time on the Disney Channel. It was directed by Fred Savage (best known for his role of Kevin on the hit series The Wonder Years.)
