Sept. 30, 1991 – U.S. President George Bush and his wife Barbara spoke at the “Daily Points of Light Celebration” luncheon in the Grand Harbor Ballroom at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort at WDW.
Sept. 30, 1991 – The colorful daytime spectacular “Surprise in the Skies” debuted in World Showcase in Epcot at WDW. (Ran through Sept, 30, 1992)
Sept. 30, 1992 - This was the last day Kraft General Foods, Inc. would sponsor The Land Pavilion.
Sept. 30, 1992 – The Disney TV series “Laurie Hill” began airing on ABC. (Ended Oct. 28, 1992)
Sept. 30, 1993 – The Dapper Dans were heard on an episode of “The Simpsons.” The clip included the Dapper Dans, Shelby Grimm-lead, Mike Economou-tenor, Jim Campbell-bass, Dan Jordan-baritone, singing “Baby on Board,” which was arranged and co-written with Jeff Martin.
Sept. 30, 1993 – “Top of the World” (also known as the Top of the World Supper Club) closed at the Contemporary Resort Hotel at WDW. It featured celebrity entertainers, dancing, dinner, a lounge, and Sunday brunch. (It would become the California Grill in May 1995)
Sept. 30, 1993 – General Electric’s contract as sponsor of the Horizon’s Pavilion at WDW’s Epcot Center ended. (Disney continued to operate the attraction until its closing in late 1994.)
Sept. 30, 1994 – Touchstone Pictures released the comedy-drama “Ed Wood” in a limited amount of cities. Directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, the film would be widely released Oct. 7th.
Sept. 30, 1995 – The “Village Restaurant” closed in the Disney Village Marketplace at WDW. (Replaced by Rainforest Café)
Sept. 30, 1996 – Disney’s one-hour TV series “Dangerous Minds” premiered on ABC. (Ended July 12, 1997)
