Sept. 27, 1903 – Sound supervisor and sound designer/engineer Robert O. Cook was born in Manitowoc, Wi. Cook worked inn various capacities at Walt Disney Studios from 1930 until his retirement in 1971. Nominated for 3 Oscars, his vast Disney credits include “Make Mine Music,” “Cinderella,” “Lady and the Tramp,” “Old Yeller,” “Tonka,” “TV’s Zorro,” “Pollyana,” “Son of Flubber,” “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” and “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.”
Sept. 27, 1927 – European Disney Comics legend Romano Scarpa was born in Venice, Italy.
Sept. 27, 1938 – Disney’s first full-length animated feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was released in Sweden.
Sept. 27, 1947 – Disney’s 9th animated feature film, “Fun and Fancy Free” (featuring 2 stories) was released. The two segments included “Mickey and the Beanstalk,” and “Bongo The Bear.” This marked the beginning of sound effects man Jim MacDonald as the voice of Mickey Mouse (as Walt was to busy.) Walt hand-picked MacDonald to follow in his footsteps. (After this picture, MacDonald would be Mickey’s voice for the next three decades.
Sept. 27, 1982 – At Epcot’s Future World, the attractions “Energy Exchange,” “FutureCom,” “Kitchen Kabaret Revue,” “Universe of Energy,” and “Harvest Theater” all debuted.
Sept. 27, 1985 – The Disney film “The Journey of Natty Gann” was released.
Sept. 27, 1991 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Deceived” was released.
Sept. 27, 1991 – The Disney video “Simply Mad About the Mouse,” featuring classic Disney songs, was released.
Sept. 27, 1992 – The Disney TV series “Woops!” began airing. (Ended Dec. 6, 1992)
Sept. 27, 1993 - Listen to the Land closed and will reopen as Living with the Land, Tomorrow’s Harvest Tour closed and would reopen as Greenhouse Tour.
