Sept. 22, 1991 – WDW’S 20th Anniversary Surprise Celebration Parade debuted on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom. (Last performance was on June 4, 1994)
Sept. 22, 1995 – Disney’s 1-hour syndicated TV series “Land’s End” began airing. (Ended Sept. 15, 1996)
Sept. 22, 1997 – Disney’s syndicated 1-hour TV series “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” began airing. (May 20, 2000)
Sept. 22, 1998 – Disney’s half-hour TV series “Sports Night” debuted on ABC-TV. (Ended May 16, 2000)
Sept. 22, 1999 - IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth opened at Epcot replacing IllumiNations.
Sept. 22, 2000 – “Larry King Live” with guest Dick Van Dyke aired on CNN. When asked if “Mary Poppins” was his 1st big movie, Van Dyke said: “Yes, absolutely. And Walt Disney, for some strange reason, thought of me. God bless him. Everybody else in the show was British. And I don’t know why…”
Sept. 22, 2001 – The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) held their Thea Awards Ceremony at the Alex Theater in Glendale, Ca. Among the Disney winners were: Imagineer Tony Baxter (Lifetime Achievement), Epcot’s Millenium Village (Award for Outstanding Achievement-Attraction), Disney Quest’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold (Award for Outstanding Achievenment-Attraction), and Disney’s Fastpass (Award for Outstanding Achievement-Breakthrough Innovation).
Sept. 22, 2001 – Disney’s “House of Mouse” debuted the episode “Daisy’s Debut.”
Sept. 22, 2003 – WDW’S Coronado Springs Resort hosted a 4-day Native American Business Conference and Trade Show.
Sept. 22, 2003 – Starting on this day, a new program allows WDW guests to have lunch or dinner with a Walt Disney Imagineer at the Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney-MGM Studios.
