Aug. 30, 1991 – Disney’s syndicated TV series “The Challengers” aired its last show.
Aug. 30, 1991 – A monorail train collided with a diesel maintenance work tractor near Disney’s Contemporary Resort as the tractor drove closely on front of the train to film it for a commercial. Two cast members were treated at a hopital for injuries.
Aug. 30, 1994 – A ground-breaking ceremony for Disney’s Wedding Pavilion took place at WDW.
Aug. 30, 1995 – Ground was broken for WDW’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Aug. 30, 1996 – The Disney film “First Kid,” starring Sinbad, Robert Guillaume, Timothy Busfield, Brock Pierce, James Naughton, Art LaFleur, Linda Eichhorn, Bill Cobbs, and Zachary Ty Bryan, was released.
Aug. 30, 2001 – The Disney Cruise Line celebrated its one-millionth guest family!
Aug. 30, 2002 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Inner Beauty” debuted on the Disney Channel.
Aug. 30, 2005 – Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch 2” was released on VHS and DVD, along with “The Parent Trap”, a new special-edition DVD.
Aug. 30, 2007 – Disneyland guests experienced the newest version of ASIMO at the Honda ASIMO Theater inside the Innoventions attraction. With the ability to run nearly 4 mph, the all-new ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) humanoid robot interacts with a live host in a new 15-minute science show.
Aug. 30, 2009 – After playing a total of 50 previews and 684 performances, Disney’s Broadway musical “The Little Mermaid” gave its final performance at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre at 3pm.
