Aug. 8, 1953 – Walt Disney received the site map that Imagineer/art director Marvin Davis has been working on for the new California theme park. (Walt picked up a pencil and drew a triangle around the plot of land to indicatewhere he wants his railroad to run. For the next 2-years, Davis would work on more than 100 different versions of the master plan for Disneyland.
Aug. 8, 1967 – Lee Unkrich, who was the supervising editor for Disney’s “Finding Nemo,” and “A Bug’s Life,” was born in Cleveland, Oh.
Aug. 8, 1969 – For the 2nd night in a row, the new Haunted Mansion in Disneyland opened to Cast Members only, and would open to guests the next day.
Aug. 8, 1976 – Joshua Scott Chasez, a member of the 90’s TV show “The All New Mickey Mouse Club,” and a member of the singing group NSYNC was born in Washington, D.C.
Aug. 8, 1995 – The Toronto production of “Beauty and the Beast” opened at the Princess of Wales Theatre. The live musical starred Kerry Butler as Belle and Chuck Wagner as the Beast.
Aug. 8, 2000 – Disney’s direct-to-video “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins,” was released.
Aug. 8, 2001 - Refreshment Port reopened in Epcot with a new menu featuring McDonald’s products and new signage.
Aug. 8, 2001 – The Disney comedy series “The Wayne Brady Show” began airing on ABC-TV. (Ended Sept. 2, 200)
Aug. 8, 2003 – The That’s So Raven episode “A Fight at the Opera” aired on the Disney Channel.
Aug. 8, 2006 – A deluxe edition of Aly & AJ’s 2005 debut album “Into the Rush” was released on Hollywood Records (a Disney owned label).
