Never have been at WDW during an Olympics. Just wondering if they do anything special in the parks or at the resorts?? :mickey:

Halloween and XMas are the normal celebrations. Everything else pretty much gets a pin at best. Never seen anything for an Olympics outside of a pin or two.

I've only seen pins, sorry to say!

It WOULD be cool if they did something special like project the best clips of the day by US Athletes onto the castle or something before Wishes (I can just hear, "When You Wish Upon A Star"), or incorporate the spirit of the Olympics into part of Illuminations, have info about each competing country's teams at their corresponding location at EPCOT, etc.

Oh well!

All the staff in the China pavilion in Epcot become much, much, much faster than employees at the other pavilions, an oddity which they claim to be perfectly natural. :secret:

Disney probably can't do much even if they want to. They aren't a sponsor or a broadcaster so won't have been given rights to anything by the IOC. Can't do anything without licensing from the IOC. The stuff for sale in the British Pavillion is likely licensed by the US distributor for sale in the US.

I went to WDW in 2008 and they held a homecoming parade for Michael Phelps in MK. We didn't even know about it until we went into the park and saw cameras being set-up along Main Street. It was a very cool surprise to see such a fantastic olympic athlete in person! I'm going again this August, hopefully they will have another homecoming ceremony!!
