Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

We are thinking about Disney's Hilton Head Resort for spring break 2013 - will be last week of March. Our kids will be 13.75 and 11. A few questions for DVC members or those who have stayed at HHI:

- how is the weather late March - I know there are not guarantees but generally speaking. I know we wouldn't be swimming in the ocean but what about the heated pools?
- activities - are most activities geared towards younger children - is there stuff to do for my kids ages. My son is the older one but he is easy to please and sometimes likes stuff kids his age would not

We would be driving so we would bring our bikes. Just trying to see if there would be enough to keep us occupied for 7 days or so. I would be perfectly fine just relaxing :D, but my kids are another story.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Hey, I dont think you would be able to swim at all in late March at Hilton Head, the average hight temperature is only 69. And while I have never been to the DVC resort there, my parents recently were and told us there wouldnt be much for kids to do. They had a nice time walking around and going to restaurants (they were also there off-season). Without the beach I dont think I could keep my kids happy there for a week in March.

We arrived on March 17th for 11 nights this year and the weather was glorious. I don't know if that is unusual but we only had one day with a little bit of rain and the temperatures were in the high 70s/low 80s. Some people were swimming in the ocean but most were using the pools at the resort and beach house. The temperatures were high enough that we ended up going to Belk to get shorts because I didn't think we'd be wearing them.
Taking your bikes along is a great idea! HHI is set up wonderfully for bike usage. As we have never taken young kids with us I can't really say if what they have would interest your gang. I do have to say I can't remember any visit there with grumpy, whining, complaining kids. They always seem busy and happy. Maybe we just caught them on good days.

Mid-March weather here in SC can be a mixed bag, but your chances of having nice weather are pretty good.

The ocean will be too cold still for a swim; wading would be okay, but the only folks swimming then will be Polar bears and Canadians.

Lots of stuff to do, Hilton Head is extremely bicycle friendly.

We go once a year at least usually in January or February. I've written several trip reports and responded to lots of DVC HHI questions. Here is a link to my first trip report : Click (http://intercot.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=166026). If you search for my posts, you'll get a pretty good idea what DVC HHI has to offer.

We were there the end of february and it was around 70 degrees for the day/night we were there. (we drove from RI and stopped at Hilton head for 1 night en route to take the Disney dream cruise.) There were people in the pool and some were taking walks on the beach but no one was in the water. The next day when we checked out was close to 80 degrees. Not sure there is a lot to do there for kids for a whole week. I know you can ride bikes, fishing, pool etc. Not sure what else is offered for kids since it was just my husband and I. Have a great time, :mickey:
