July 22, 1967 – Irene Bedard, the voice of Pocahontas in Disney’s 1995 film, was born in Anchorage, Alaska.
July 22, 1986 – Floyd Gottfredson, the man who gave Mickey Mouse his comic strip personality, passed away at his Southern California home.
July 22, 1989 – The “Disney Presents a Preview of Coming Attractions” on Disneyland’s Main Street closed.
July 22, 1992 – Actress and singer Selena Gomez, one of the stars on Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” was born in N.Y.C. Raised in Texas, her first role would be on Barney & Friends. This would lead to work with Disney and appear on “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and “Hannah Montana.”
July 22, 1994 – “The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror” attraction opened at Disney-MGM Studios at WDW.
July 22, 2003 – Walt Disney Records released the soundtrack to the hit Disney Channel original animated series “Kim Possible.”
July 22, 2004 – The Walt Disney Co. honored some of the most creative teachers across the country with the annual Disneyland Teachers Award. Thirty-nine talented educators were recognized during a 4-day event at the Disneyland park.
July 22, 2004 – Christy Carlson Romano (the current Belle in Disney’s Broadway Show “Beauty and the Beast”) took part in “Broadway at Bryant Park” in N.Y.C. The event included casts from other Broadway Shows as well.
July 22, 2006 – In celebration of its 10th birthday Radio Disney presented a concert at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, Ca. This Radio Disney Totally 10 Birthday Concert featured Jesse McCartney, Bowling For Soup, The Cheetah Girls, Aly & AJ, and Everlife.
July 22, 2010 – The Walt Disney Co. made its mark at the 2010 Comic-Con Convention with an exciting lineup of feature films, scripted and animated series, and interactive booths providing fans with a first look at new content, experiences and merchandise.
