Our cat as some pretty thick hair and it gets matted pretty bad mostly on her back and around her rear. Can anyone recommend a clippers that works good that's not super expensive? I have been using a clippers that I had bought for myself, it works ok but takes a bit to cut through the matted hair.

Before clipping, have you tried The Furminator? I use it on all my cats and my dog and it really works great, gets through double coats. Best price I've found is on Amazon.

When all else fails, I did by a dog clipper for my old dog (Maltese) but it wasn't much different than a human one except for the price! Still had to go slow and steady for mats.

Never heard of the Furminator, I will check it out thanks. Yeah looking online it's hard to tell if the pet clippers are any different then human ones.

Another vote for the furminator. You shouldn't need to cut a cat's hair. You just need regular brushing to keep the mats out.
