June 2, 1998 – The soundtrack to Disney’s “Mulan” was released on Walt Disney Records.
June 2, 2002 – The Nelson’s finished out their 2-day engagement at Epcot as part of the final Flower Power Concert Series for 2000 at the American Garden Theatre.
June 2, 2002 – Epcot’s “Journey Into Imagination with Figment” was dedicated at WDW.
June 2, 2003 – The Disney short “Destino” was released and given a surprise world premiere at the Anney International Animation Film Festival. (Originally an abandoned project from the 1940’s, the piece features the beautiful work of Salvartore Dali.)
June 2, 2007 – The completed “Ratatouille” was viewed by the Pixar staff at a wrap party. (The film would be released June 29, 2007)
June 2, 2008 – Space shuttle Discovery docked at the International Space Station on this day, delivering a mammoth lab and two new occupants: a NASA astronaut and Buzz Lightyear. (A 12-inch action figure of Buzz will move in for a half-year as part of NASA’s toy-in-space educational program.
June 2, 2009 – Broadway’s “The Little Mermaid” got a new Ariel when Chelsea Morgan Stock took over the lead role from Sierra Bogges. Stock, a native of San Jose, Ca. made her Broadway debut in 2007 with the original company of “The Little Mermaid.” She originated the role of Andrina, one of King Triton’s seven daughters, and was also the understudy for the role of Ariel.
June 2, 2009 – At the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas, Nv., Disney announced plans for a new hand-drawn animated Winnie the Pooh feature film (to hit theaters in spring 2011).
June 2, 2010 - Songwriter and Disney Legend, Randy Newman, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
June 2, 2011 – The inaugural “USA Gymnastics Open Championships” began at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at WDW.
