Lifetime passes: what 2 of my friends won just hours ago for being the 1 millionth riders on Mission Space. Jealousy is in high gear. :mickey:

They're on a big multi-generational family trip so at this time it's only been a "his mother told my mother" thing, but I'll get the skinny when they return. I can't wait to hear how they presented it to them!

Being the 1 millionth guest is on an attraction is a milestone that is met quickly in an attraction's lifetime.

Using somewhat conservative estimates, Mission: SPACE could easily count 1 million guests served roughly every 2 months based on operating 12 hours each day from 9am-9pm (so that does not include Extra Magic Hours).

For comparison, an attraction like Pirates of the Caribbean might hit a million riders every month, while Toy Story Mania handles that number maybe every 3 months based on rider capacity.

After nearly 9 years in operation, Mission: SPACE would have over 50 million passenger trips (and is likely closer to 60 million at this point).

Fun side note: as far as individual rider records go for a particular attraction, there is Gwen Reimann who had documented and was recognized by the Disneyland Resort for having ridden the Indiana Jones Adventure 2000 times by March, 2000 and then 3000 rides by March 3, 2001 (the 6th anniversary of the attraction's opening) eventually surpassing 10,000+ rides by 2010 when it was reported that she stopped due to health restrictions. 10,000 rides would be a little over 24 days spent on the attraction (not including any time spent waiting in line)

How can 2 people both be # 1,000,000?

Mission: Space puts on 1,600 riders every hour. That's about 19,200 a day, and 576,000 a month.
As someone said, the millionth rider would have gotten on two months after it opened. It's been there about 9 years, so figuring in some downtime, the total number of riders should be over 55 million by now.

Also, 40 people ride at once.
If these 2 were given the passes, are we to believe the prize was given to all 40?
I think we shot some holes in this fairy tale.

Hmmm, you all pose very plausible questions. They're not ones to fib so I'll be getting the details soon. His mother called it Mission to Mars which tells you here understanding level so the exact number may be a result of the "childhood telephone game" effect.

I have no doubts but the details are still sketchy.

I gave him a call and he said that he was the 1 millionth rider "of the month." The cast member at the ride pulled him aside and notified him (I guess it wasn't much of a celebration since it happens monthly). They gave both him and his wife lifetime passes and had their pic taken for the moment.

Then again, he is a very understaded fellow who could win the lottery and say "hmm, alright" so it may have been a much greater experience than he is letting on.

Congrats to them anyway!

p.s. Ouch, not much faith floating around? I can ask him for the pic but jeez.

I have to admit, even this seems a little off. Are they lifetime "fastpasses" for M:S? That would make a little more sense.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps it's a new thing. I'll ask him for the pic. :hide2:

Here is his text:

"It was a pic for Disney purposes. We did not get a copy. All it was was in celebration of the private space company launching that rocket to the space station. Kathi and I were in the mission space line at the right time."

This makes sense as the disneyparks blog has an official pic of the rocket as it reaches over Mission Space.

Ok, I just received another text from him and I don't want to post it. It appears to be a joke on someone else that I became inadvertently involved in...

Someone has been pulling the wool over... :sorry:

...darn it !! I was hoping someone got a good perk like that !! I would have never tried to poke holes in your story. It's not far fetched that someone could be given lifetime FP's for special events.....who knew ?!!!? It was a fun read either way !!!

Lifetime park passes would be amazing. Does sound like there might be a catch, too good to be true. Lifetime M:S fastpasses maybe.
