May 11, 1993 – The hit TV series Full House goes to Disney World in part-1 of “The House Meets the Mouse.” (Part-2 aired May 18, 1993)
May 11, 1997 – At Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, Karolyn Kirby and Nancy Reno won $60,000 at the inaugural Volleyball event “Cybergenics Open.”
May 11, 1999 – The Back Street Boys taped a live concert in front of 1,800 fans at the New Amsterdam Theater in N.Y.C., which would premiere on the Disney Channel 2 months later.
May 11, 2001 – The Disney Channel aired the Lizzie McGuire episode “Between a Rock and a Bra Place.”
May 11, 2002 – The Disney Magic cruise ship started alternating its routes to the Caribbean each week. The new western Caribbean route is Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay, its Eastern Caribbean route is St.Marten, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay.
May 11, 2002 – Legendary Disney story man Bill Peet, who joined the Disney studio in 1937 at the age of 22 drawing Donald Duck, and who had writing credits in the animated classics “101 Dalmatians,” and “The Sword in the Stone,” died at the age of 87 at his home in Studio City, Ca.
May 11, 2004 – Walt Disney Records Presents “Mega Movie Mix” was released. The CD features songs from Walt Disney Pictures and Disney Channel Original Movies.
May 11, 2005 – The ABC-TV show “Live with Regis and Kelly” originated from WDW to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.
May 11, 2006 – Starting this day, graduates nation-wide gathered to celebrate the road ahead at Disneyland Resort’s Grad Nite presented by Honda.
May 11, 2010 – On this evening’s episode of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, the Gipsy Kings performed a Spanish-language version of the song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (which will appear on the “Toy Story 3” soundtrack).
