May 4, 2005 – Disneyland closed to the public today for last minute preparations for tomorrow’s start of the 18-month 50th Celebration Event.
May 4, 2006 – Two of the stars from the Disney/Pixar’s computer animated film, “Lightning McQueen” and “Mater” began leading the “Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade” at Disney-MGM Studios in WDW.
May 4, 2006 – Nancy Heizer, a guest at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in WDW, was found face down in the swimming pool, by guests. Rescuers performed CPR and used a defibrillator but could not revive her. She was later pronounced dead at Celebration Hospital.
May 4, 2007 – The C.K. Holliday Locomotive No.1, one of Disneyland’s four steam engines, was loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken to the Fullerton Transportation Center at 122 E. Santa Fe Ave. The 9-ton engine would make a guest appearance at the Fullerton’s 9th Annual Railroad Days held on May 5 & 6. The marked the 2nd year the theme park has allowed one of its four steam engines to leave the premises.
May 4, 2007 – Disney field tested a brand new hard ticket concept for the parks called “The Disney 8th Grade Grad Jam.” The reservation only event, was to help 8th graders celebrate the end of middle school, took place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in WDW.
May 4, 2007 – Disney Channel premiered the special “High School Musical: The Concert.”
May 4, 2007 – The “Hannah Montana” episode “You Gotta Not Fight for Your Right to Party” aired for the first time on the Disney Channel.
May 4, 2007 – The 43-foot long, 13-foot tall, road-tripping submarine vehicle “Nemo Dream Mobile” embarked on a trek through Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Fresno, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Tucson and Phoenix.
May 4, 2008 – The 50th episode of “Hanna Montana,” “The Way We Almost Weren’t” aired for the first time on the Disney Channel.
May 4, 2009 – The full list of nominees were revealed for this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Miley Cyrus (Disney’s Hanna Montana) was nominated for two categories – Breakthrough Performance – Female and Best Song from a Movie (a brand-new category) for her hit song “The Climb.” Competing against Cyrus for Breakthrough Performance – Female were fellow female Disney girls and “High School Musical” stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale. The awards show was held at Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Ca.
