Apr. 12, 1995 – The Los Angeles production of “Beauty and the Beast” opened at the Shubert Theatre. Most of the Original Broadway Cast including Susan Egan, Terrance Mann, Gary Beach, Beth Fowler, Burke Moses, and Tom Bosley reprise their role for the production.
Apr. 12, 1996 – Disney’s live action movie, “James and the Giant Peach”, featuring the voices of Paul Terry, Richard Dreyfuss, and Susan Sarandon, was released in U.S. theaters.
Apr. 12, 1997 – Carl Barks, the creator of Scrooge McDuck, and who drew the Donald Duck comic book, celebrated his 96th birthday at a special weekend event at WDW.
Apr. 12, 1999 - Art of Disney opened at The American Adventure as a temporary location while Centorium was undergoing rehab.
Apr. 12, 2005 – Disney released 4 live-action features from the past to DVD. They included the 1966 “Lt. Robin Crusoe,” the 1967 “the Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin, and the 1971 films “The Barefoot Executive” and “Million Dollar Duck.”
Apr. 12, 2006 – The Discovery Channel aired “Building a Thrill Ride: Expedition Everest.”
Apr. 12, 2007 – Hilton Hotels Corp. broke ground for a resort development adjacent to the Walt Disney World Resort.
Apr. 12, 2009 – WDW’s newest attraction “Characters in Flight,” a tethered helium filled balloon ride (operated by Aerophile, a company specializing in tethered helium balloons) continued its “soft opening” at DTD.
Apr. 12, 2010 – Disney Store introduced a new line of eco-friendly products in celebration of the upcoming 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
Apr. 12, 2011 – “The Incredibles” were released in a 4-disc combo pack on Blu-ray.
