We have ressie for 3days at AKL and then 3days at BC. We would like to do quick service DP for the first half and then regular DDP for the second. Is this possible?

Yes, each stay is considered a different reservation, just make sure you use up all your credits for your first stay as they won't roll forward into your second reservation.

We have ressie for 3days at AKL and then 3days at BC. We would like to do quick service DP for the first half and then regular DDP for the second. Is this possible? It's possible but I highly discourage it, as you will pay a lot more for your park tickets that way.

In order to purchase the Disney Dining Plan (of any variety), you must book it as a package. A package, by Disney definition, consists of a bundled purchase of a resort room and at least a 1-day base park ticket.

So your best bet, assuming you'll be 6 days in the theme parks, would be to book your AKL package with a 5-day ticket and then your BC package with a 1-day ticket ... tickets are good for up to 14 days from the date of first use, meaning that your tickets from your AKL package will still be good even after you check-out of AKL and move on to BC.

A 5-day ticket costs $251. A 1-day ticket costs $85. So in order to buy the Dining Plan during your BC stay, your total ticket cost will be $336.

But let's say you buy the DDP only for your AKL stay, and make a 6-day ticket part of that package, then book a room-only reservation (with no tickets and NO Dining Plan) for your BC stay ... that 6-day ticket will cost you $259.

In other words, buying the DDP as part of your BC stay will cost you an extra $77, due to the increased ticket cost.

Ask yourself if you're willing to pay an extra $77 per person for the privilege of buying the DDP as part of your Beach Club stay.

All of the above prices don not include 6.5% sales tax, by the way.

Thanks to CleveRocks for doing all that math and making quick sense of this issue. These are the kinds of people who are so valuable on this site.

Good job looking out for others!

True an extra $77 per person, but how much would you spend on food per person for the extra 3 days without the DDP? Less than $25 (3 days x $25 = $75) per person, per day? With the deluxe plan, you would get way more than $25 worth of food every day, 1 table service meal will cost you about that much.

In the post you mention AKL & BC but looking at your signature you list DVC AKV & BCV so I'm not sure if you're staying DVC? If you're staying DVC you can add any meal plan you wish and do not have to buy a ticket so, yes, you could do QSDP & DDP

Yes, I forgot to mention that we are DVC members with an annual pass. Thanks for all your help.
