Apr. 3, 1992 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “Straight Talk,” starring Dolly Parton, James Woods, Griffen Dunne, and Michael Madsen, was released.
Apr. 3, 1994 – Disney CEO Frank Wells was killed in a helicopter crash on a skiing trip in Nevada. Wells’ death would spark the breakup between Jeffery Katzenberg and Micahel Eisner and lead to the creation of Dreamworks SKG. A building would be constructed at The Walt Disney Studios in Wells’ memory.
Apr. 3, 1996 – The city of Anaheim and the Walt Disney Corp. agreed on a deal that would keep the Angels in Anaheim until at least 2018 Disney committed $88 million and the city $30 million to a 3 year renovation of Edison International Field.
Apr. 3, 2001 – Disney’s “102 Dalmatians” starring Glenn Close and Jeff Daniels was released on video and DVD.
Apr. 3, 2001 – The $33 million Florida Interchange between Osceola Parkway and Interstate 4 opened, alleviating some of the congestion getting to WDW.
Apr. 3, 2006 – President and CEO of the Walt Disney Co., Bob Iger, and his family vacationed at the WDW Resort for 4-days.
Apr. 3, 2007 – Anneliese van der Pol, a star of the Disney Channel hit “That’s So Raven,” made her Broadway debut as Belle in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” She is the 17th and final actress to play the role on Broadway as the show will close July 29, 2007 to make room for the new production of “The Little Mermaid.”
Apr. 3, 2007 – Disney’s Hollywood Records released Hilary Duff’s newest album “Dignity” featuring the singles “Play with Fire,” “With Love,” and “Stranger.”
Apr. 3, 2007 – Bob Iger, President and CEO of the Walt Disney Co., vacationed with his family for 4-days at the WDW Resort.
Apr. 3, 2010 – Disney announced the winners of its “design a Fairy House Art Contest” during a ceremony at Epcot. (The winning house, by 15-year-old Zoe P. from Frazier Park, Ca., was selected by Disney Toon Studios Filmmakers.)
