Mar. 29, 1993 – Disney won an Oscar at the 65th Academy Awards for Best Song, “A Whole New World”, and a award for Original Score, from Disney’s “Aladdin”.
Mar. 29, 1995 - Inspired by Vision opened at Innoventions West replacing Silicon Graphics.
Mar. 29, 1998 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired “Safety Patrol.”
Mar. 29, 2001 – The Atlanta Braves played their last spring training game of the season at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, when they took on the Florida Marlins.
Mar. 29, 2002 – Disney’s “The Rookie”, starring Dennis Quad opened in theaters.
Mar. 29, 2002 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Working Girl” debuted on the Disney Channel.
Mar. 29, 2007 – Actor Adam West (best known as the TV’s Batman & the voice of the Mayor on the Family Guy) who provides the voice of Uncle Art, one of the eccentric Robinson family members in Walt Disney Pictures’ new computer-animated comedy-adventure, “Meet the Robinsons,” helped kick off the El Capitan Theatre’s spectacular Disney Digital 3-D engagement with a personal appearance at the midnight show. “Meet the Robinsons,” is scheduled to run at the El Capitan from Mar. 30th through May 19th. On the same program, in its first big screen appearance in 54 years, was the classic 1953 3-D short, “Working for Peanuts,” starring Donald Duck and Chip’n’Dale.
Mar. 29, 2008 – The Golden Horseshoe Show & Celebration, a fan event, was held in Anaheim, Ca. Although not an official Disney event, Disney Legends Wally Boag (the original Pecos Bill) and Imagineer Bob Gurr attended.
Mar. 29, 2009 – Disney’s Broadway Musical “Mary Poppins” begins its North American Tour starting at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theater.
Mar. 29, 2011 – ABC-TV debuted a new drama series “Body of Proof,” about a neurosurgeon – turned – medical examiner.
