Thanks to the podcast #30; I found my old copy of the WDW Explorer from 1996. It was made to run on Windows 95 and is a 16bit program.
Does anyone know of any way to get this to install and run on Windows 7. The compatibility mode is a no go.

I thought I had it running...

Try just running the EXE on the disk. I don't think you need to install it.

I have the first edition and the only .exe I can find is the setup.exe

Hey hey... You're right... I must ave always used the second edition. In the WDW folder, there's a WDW25.exe that doesn't exist in the first edition.

I just tried copying the file from the second edition to the first, along with necessary files and no go. The apps are too different.

You'll need to get your hands on a second edition...

OR

Get VirtualBox (free) and install Win 95 in a virtual machine to enjoy these CDs.

You can probably locate the second edition of the CD out on the Interwebs. I know a few sites that have/had it. It's not commercially available anymore...

Thanks, DizneyRox.
I have an old Frankenputer from years ago that I may try to fire up again just to run this. Heck, I still have a Tandy model 1.

I powered up a Windows Vista computer and it runs on that!!! The 600x800 graphics are AWESOME....not. Still, it is cool to have it up and running again.

If you install it, you may be able to copy the install directory over to the Win7 computer... I bet it's just missing the equivalent of that WDW25.exe.

You got me beat on the model 1 (although they were TRS-80 not Tandy ;-) )... I've only got a model III sitting in storage somewhere. About 10 years ago, it actually was able to boot off the 5.25" disks.

Interesting, I've never attempted to run it on my Windows Vista laptop. I'm going to have to find my copy.. that will keep some kid busy for hours.
