Playing UK/PAL Wii games in U.S.?

I want to buy a Wii game for my son (Pocoyo Racing), but it's only made for UK Wii systems. I was told there's a disc you can get to allow Wii to play both U.S. and U.K. games. Is that true?

I know if you hack it, you can play any region disks. Hacking took me about 30 minutes to do on a friends Wii. I don't own one myself, I use the Dolphin.
