Feb. 28, 2005 – Clear Channel Radio launched a major promotion to help celebrate 50 years of family fun at Walt Disney theme parks. More than 400 Clear Channel radio stations participated in the campaign by airing promotional spots providing event details for the “Happiest Celebration on Earth.”
Feb. 28, 2005 – Florida Governor Jeb Bush named longtime WDW executive Tom Lewis to run the Dept. of Management Services. (The agency is responsible for overseeing state government infrastructure, including building construction and state vehicles.)
Feb. 28, 2005 – Filming began at the Disney Studio in Burbank, Ca. for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”
Feb. 28, 2006 – Walt Disney’s 50th Anniversary edition 2-disc set of “Lady and the Tramp” was released on DVD.
Feb. 28, 2006 – Jazz vocalist/pianist Steve Tyrell released his newest CD “Steve Tyrell: The Disney Standards.”
Feb. 28, 2006 – An open house took place at the 1927 California home of Roland Hill, architect of Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. The storybook home, located on Bennett Drive in Los Angeles, Ca. reflects Hill’s whimsical style.
Feb. 28, 2007 – Prestel Publishing released the book “Once Upon a Time: Walt Disney: The Sources of Inspiration for the Disney Studios” by Bruno Girveau.
Feb. 28, 2007 – The Atlanta Braves kicked off their home spring training schedule at Cracker Jack Stadium (located in Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex) with a game against Georgia Tech.
Feb. 28, 2007 – The Disney Vacation Club, a resort subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co. announced it would be opening a first-of-its-kind preview center in the Woodfield Mall in Chicago, Il.
Feb. 28, 2009 – The “ESPN The Weekend 5K” was held at WDW.
