Do the prices of character meals include tax? You don't need to leave a tip? I forget.

The prices include tax, but do NOT include the TIP -- You will need to tip .

If you are referring to using the DDP. Then no it does not include tax or tip.

Can somebody please confirm?

If you're using the dining plan, the tax is included. All you pay above the DDP is the tip, and any adult beverages or extras you order.

 Forgive me, quick typing. Completely typed backwards of what I was thinking. That's what I get for slacking at work. Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say that it does include tax but does not include tip. I'm going to go back to work now....lol

Okay, that's good to hear that we just have to wory about tip. What about Pepper Market Buffet at CSR? I know that is a buffet now, you don't tip a server there, do you? Does anyone know?

Is Pepper Market Buffet an actually Buffet or is it a counter service? I have never seen it or heard of it. But just in case this is what I will say if it helps at all.
You are so supposed to tip at every meal, whether buffet or not. Now depending on service is the "tip amount" but generally you are supposed to leave a tip at any "sit down" meal. Even at buffet's you do have a "server", they will be refreshing your drinks, clearing your tables when done with dishes, etc.
We tip everywhere (Except at counter service restaurants).

Is Pepper Market Buffet an actually Buffet or is it a counter service? From Figment!'s Tidbits:

A Tasty Test

1/25/12 The Lunch Buffet test at the Pepper Market has been extended indefinitely. The current cost of the Lunch buffet is $16.99 Guests 10 and up and $9.99 for Guest Ages 3-9. Although an end date has not been announced, Resort Cast have reported that the new buffet offering has not become a permanent offering yet.

12/7/11 The Pepper Market food court at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort is testing a Breakfast and Lunch buffet now through January 4, 2012. As a result of the trial offering, Maya Grill will cease breakfast service during this time period.

I haven't been to the buffet, but I would imagine that if there is someone there to give you silverware, drinks, and clean up afterward (as was the case before,) then a tip would be appropiate.

You have to tip everywhere but the counter service places. It cost us so much in tips for even the buffets. They have changed it all up on those way less food choices offered, Tables empty everywhere, Food was tasteless, characters ggive you only the time to sign a book and a picture. no play time even there were only maybe 20 tables that morning of people. Very quiet and this is Crystals, Tusker our fav was even that way. Hurried, not so good of food as in the past 4 times we went. Basing those tips on a table of 6 is brutal. We spent an average of 15.00 each meal for 2 people every meal TS credits. They add everything up seperatly so that you have to pay more. Like the buffets, they sort out the drinks at what they would cost so you pay tip on that .. Not just the buffet price.. I see why people were bringing in their own food. This trip we saw many many people who ate PBJ's brought out bags of chips pudding etc. Never seen that before. Strollers were weighed down with coolers and food. So sad to see Disney driving people to do this just to get to go to Disney. But on the other hand, that PBJ would have tasted a ton better than most of the food we had all 8 days the last week of this Jan..

Okay - costs are going up, quality and quantity are perceived as going down. Isn't this happening EVERYWHERE?? And not just at Disney?

Anywhere you sit down and a server visits your table to take your drink orders - you should tip your server - buffet or full table service.

As for people bringing in food, at least Disney allows this. Many other amusement parks do not allow outside food or drink, so you have to interrupt your day, leave the park, find the designated picnic area, and eat, pack it all back up, and then can go back into the park.
