Feb. 13, 2007 – Danielle Day and her family from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan spent the night inside Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom. The first time a Canadian family is Disney’s World’s first, to ever win a nights stay as part of the Disney Dreams Giveaway.
Feb. 13, 2008 – Disney released “Discs of Tron” on Xbox Live Arcade. The game based on the 1982 film “Tron,” allows players to face off against the evil Sark.
Feb. 13, 2008 – Good Morning America broadcasted live on ABC from “Castaway Cay” (Disney’s private island in the Bahamas) to feature the Acoba family from Port Orchard, Wa. (They were winners of the Castaway Cay for a day “Year of a Million Dreams! Prize.)
Feb. 13, 2008 – Disneyland announced that it would soon open a new dwelling in Tomorrowland. This time in partnership with 21st century technology giants Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., software maker LifeWare and home builder Taylor Morrison. (The 5,000 sq. ft. “House of the Future” (scheduled to open May 2009) will look like a suburban tract home outside. But inside the $15 million Innoventions Dream Home will feature hardware, software and touch-screen systems that could simplify everyday living.
Feb. 13, 2009 – Disney’s Touchstone Pictures released “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” starring Isla Fisher, John Goodman, Joan Cusack, Hugh Dancy, and John Lithgow.
Feb. 13, 2009 – Disney debuted its new Disney XD with the launch of the Disney XD network and DisneyXD.com. (The new brand is aimed at boys ages 6-14 and features content focusing on the themes of adventure, accomplishment, gaming, music and sports.
Feb. 13, 2009 – California resident Frances Taylor celebrated her 100th birthday at Disneyland! She was greeted at the main gate by the Disneyland Marching Band, a confetti burst, mouse-ear balloons and a calvalcade of well-wishers, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Feb. 13, 2010 – During the 10th Annual Toy of the Year Awards in N.Y.C., John Lasseter (Chief Executive Officer, Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios, and Principal Creative Advisor of Walt Disney Imagineering) was inducted into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame.
Feb. 13, 2011 – The Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack Album for Motion Pictures, Television or Other Visual Media was awarded to composer Randy Newman for “Toy Story 3.”
Feb. 13, 2011 – “Toy Story 3” picked up a British Academy Film Award for Animated Film at the 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards in London, England.
