Feb. 11, 2004 – A tragic day at WDW: Cast Member (Costumed Charater as Pluto) Javier Cruz (38), an 8-year veteran, was killed during the “Share a Dream Come True” Parade in the Magic Kingdom. The accident occurred when he was crushed by the “Once Upon a Dream” Float (Princess Snowglobe).
Feb. 11, 2005 – The Disney Toon Studios movie “Pooh’s Heffalump Movie” was released in theaters.
Feb. 11, 2005 – The Walt Disney Annual Shareholders Meeting took place at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Feb. 11, 2005 – Pleasure Island at DTD in WDW was transformed into “Sweetheart Island” in observance of Valentines Day. (3-day event 2/11, 2/12, & 2/14)
Feb. 11, 2007 – The 34th annual Annie Awards were held at the Alex Theater in Glendale, Ca. Winners included “Cars” for Best Animated Feature and “Bambi II” for Best Home Entertainment Production. Actress Eartha Kitt was awarded for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production for her role of Yzma in “The Emperor’s New School.” The Annie for Music in an Animated Feature Production goes to songwriter Randy Newman for his music in “Cars.” This year’s Winsor McCay Award (for recognition of lifetime or career contributions to the art of animation) went to Andreas Deja. He has been the supervising animator for numerous Disney characters including Gaston, Jafar, Scar, and Lilo.

Feb. 11, 2008 – A fire on one of the ride vehicles on “Kilimanjaro Safari” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom left a woman slightly injured after having to jump from the vehicle to safety.
Feb. 11, 2011 – The animated feature “Gnomeo & Juliet” was released by Touchstone Pictures.
Feb. 11, 2011 – “Mickey’s Toontown Fair” at WDW, shut its gates in the Magic Kingdom for the last time to make room for the new Fantasyland expansion.
