Jan. 27, 2004 – The Broadway Musical Beauty and the Beast had its 4000th performance.
Jan. 27, 2004 – Disney released Alice in Wonderland on DVD (Masterpiece Edition).
Jan. 27, 2004 – Walt Disney Records released “Disneymania 2” a CDc of Disney songs performed by such artists as Raven, Jump 5, and Hilary Duff.
Jan. 27, 2004 – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 76th Annual Academy Awards. Disney’s Brother Bear, Finding Nemo, and Destino all received nominations as does actor Johnny Depp for his role in Disney’s live-action Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
Jan. 27, 2004 – Roy Disney and Stanley Gold made public their decision to “vote no” on the re-election of 4 key directors (including CEO Michael Eisner.)
Jan. 27, 2004 – WDW donated 3 mountain bongo antelopes to the Mount Kenya Game Ranch in Kenya in an effort to help restore the animal’s population in the wild.
Jan. 27, 2006 – The Disney film “Annapolis” was released.
Jan. 27, 2006 – The Disney Channel’s newest animated series “The Emperor’s New School” debuted.
Jan. 27, 2006 – Walt Disney Pictures released “Roving Mars” exclusively in IMAX theaters. The documentary (produced by Kennedy-Marshall and White Mountain Films) detailed the journey of “Spirit” and “Opportunity,” two Rovers exploring the red planet.
Jan. 27, 2007 – The 14th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend was held.
