Jan. 24, 1994 – Disney’s 2-hour movie “To My Daughter, with Love” aired on NBC.
Jan. 24, 1997 – The Disney film “Prefontaine” was released.
Jan. 24, 1999 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired “A Saintly Switch.”
Jan. 24, 1999 – At the Golden Globe Awards, “Reflection” (written by Matthew Wilder & David Zippel from Disney’s “Mulan”) was edged out by “The Prayer” (from Quest For Camelot) for Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
Jan. 24, 2000 – Robert A. Iger (former chairman of the Disney-owned ABC Group and President of Walt Disney International) was named president and chief operating officer of the Walt Disney Co. as well as a member of its board of directors.
Jan. 24, 2000 – “Soapnet” (a cable station launched by Disney/ABC) hit the airways.
Jan. 24, 2000 – Disney’s half-hour comedy series “Brutally Normal” began airing on the WB Network. (Ended Feb. 14, 2000)
Jan. 24, 2002 – Disney announced it would release its major holiday 2002 animated feature, “Treasure Planet,” simultaneously in 35mm venues as well as in Imax theaters on Nov. 27, 2002.
Jan. 24, 2003 – More than 100 Oscar statuettes presented over the past 75 years were featured in a new exhibition at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences beginning this day.
Jan. 24, 2003 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Dear Lizzie” aired on the Disney Channel.
