Just wanted to share a recent experience. Called DVC to see if we could get HHI for a 3-4 nights in June (any time between 16-23):silly: Only nights available 15th and 16th. Nice castmember asked if I wanted to try RCI. I was leery because we've never done more than look at web site and I was driving at the time. Agent I talked to was very nice, ended up booking 3 nights but ended up with a 3 BR due to availability. It will be roomy, but I was glad to get a place on "short" notice. The process was just as smooth as DVC, and they read you all the disclaimers (transaction fee, points stay RCI if you cancel, etc.) When I got home , I checked it out online and read some reviews, looks like we'll be happy. Looking forward to our first trip to HHI/Atlanta

You got a 3 BR Villa at HHI on short notice? Were the 3BRs held specifically for RCI point holders? This is good to know. We own at HHI but don't always book at the 11 month window. Sometimes when I've called to get a 3BR at HHI they've been gone. No one has ever offered to go through RCI for me. Next time I try that I'll ask for other options.

It kind of irks me, though, that as a DVC member I can't call and get a 3BR at short notice if they're being held for RCI members.

Oh. Okay. That makes me feel better. Enjoy HHI. It's a beautiful place!

My parents are platinum with BlueGreen so i am hoping we can get a RCI trade through to DVC (either WL or BLT 1bdrm) for our October trip. Right now they seem to be opening up a lot of July and a few in end of August. Right now we have a 2-bdrm at the Fountains booked as a fall back if dates don't open up.

This would be awesome because it would be a great transition from staying at Bluegreen resorts to staying in DVC as we will be looking to purchase DVC when GF opens up.

We traded into BLT for a week in July via RCI with points from our Hilton timeshare. I was surprised at how easily our request was approved. Hopefully you'll have the same luck for October!!

I have never done the whole trade in thing... what do you mean have to have it approved? Doesn't it just see your points available and then subtract those points from your account?

What needs to be approved with it? just asking so I don't get my hopes up for something that falls through.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. We had to place a request for a list of resorts we would be willing to trade into, along with the date range. I expected to have to wait a while for a "match" to be found (by one of those units being deposited into RCI). I wasn't even sure we would get it at all, since summer is popular, but something came up while I was on the phone placing my request. That's what I meant by "approved. " Hope that helps.

Brivers, do you have a HGVC timeshare? If so, they have their own web portal and phone number for RCI transactions.

My parents have a BlueGreen Timeshare on the points system. I can log into RCI via the BlueGreen site and search for specific resorts and specific times. Right now DVCs are only offering through the end of August. So i am guessing soon they will start creeping into my time frame. It appears DVC weeks are 11,000 points which is perfect!
