Jan. 7, 2005 – The 12th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend was held. (Ran through Jan. 9, 2005)
Jan. 7, 2006 – Josh Eberly, of Rochester, Michigan won the 2006 Walt Disney World Half Marathon in 1 hour, 8 minutes, 12 seconds.
Jan. 7, 2007 – The Disney Store at the Echelan Mall in New Jersey officially closed.
Jan. 7, 2007 – The Hannah Montana episode ‘We Are Family: Now Get Me Some Water!” aired for the first time on the Disney Channel.
Jan. 7, 2007 – Brazilian Adriano Bastos won his 4th Walt Disney World Marathon title, becoming the first runner ever in the event’s 14-year history to win 4 races and sweep 3 in a row! Bastos, 28, of Sao Paulo posted a time of 2:19: 24, nearly 13 minutes faster than his closest competitor. In the women’s field, Gabriela Trana of Costa Rica, running her 1st marathon ever, won with a time of 2:57:03 just ahead of Christa Benton of St. Petersburg, Fl.
Jan. 7, 2008 – The Disney-MGM Studios transitioned to its new name “Disney Hollywood Studios.”
Jan. 7, 2009 – The 35th People’s Choice Awards, honoring the best in Popular Culture for 2008, was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Ca. “Wall-E” won Favorite Family Movie.
Jan. 7, 2010 – The “Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend” began on this day. (4-day event)
Jan. 7, 2010 – Allison Iraheta, the 17-year-old former American Idol contestant, visited Radio Disney in Burbank, Ca. (She performed her new single “Friday, I’ll Be Over You.”
Jan. 7, 2011 – The plaque and key exchange for the “Disney Dream” took place, commemorating the ship’s inaugural call on Port Canaveral, Fl. In an official maritime ceremony.
