Jan. 3, 1989 – Actor Alex D. Linz, the star of “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” was born in Santa Barbara, Ca. His Disney credits include the voice of Young Tarzan in the 1999 Tarzan.
Jan. 3, 1991 – The Disney TV series “Blossom,” starring Mayim Bialik, Ted Wass, Michael Stoyanov, Jenna Von Oy, David Lascher, and Joey Lawrence, aired on NBC. (Aired for the last time on June 5, 1995)
Jan. 3, 1992 – The Disney TV series “Pacific Station” began airing on NBC.
Jan. 3, 1994 - Kitchen Kabaret closed and would be replaced with Food Rocks.
Jan. 3, 1994 – The Disney TV series “The Good Life” debuted on NBC. (Ended Apr. 12, 1994)
Jan. 3, 2001 – Ken Goldstein, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Online, announced that executives Dan Sherlock and Jodie Resnick have been named vice president of marketing and president of entertainment.
Jan. 3, 2004 – NASA’s Spirit Rover landed on Mars. Administrator Sean O’Keefe summed up the amazing feat with the simple phrase: “We’re back… and we’re on Mars.” (That quote, along with a replica of the twin geologists roving Mars, will later be enshrined outside the Mission: SPACE attraction at Epcot.)
Jan. 3, 2004 – The “Food Rocks” attraction in The Land Pavilion at Epcot closed to make way for the new “Soarin’ Over California” attraction set to open in 2005.
Jan. 3, 2005 – It was reported that a London Lorry driver named Nick Pain has named his newborn son Disney.
Jan. 3, 2007 – The newly refurbished “Space Mountain” attraction re-opened on this day under its new name “Rockin’ Space Mountain” at Disneyland.
