Dec. 24, 1955 – Tragedy struck when massive floodwaters killed over 35 people in Yuba City, Ca. It was the worst disaster to strike Ca. since the San Francisco earthquake (on Feb. 25, 1956, Walt Disney Mouseketeers would put on a Christmas party at Yuba City High School, a special late Christmas gift for the kids of Yuba City.)
Dec. 24, 1959 – A long standing tradition began when half of Sweden sat down in front of the television for a family viewing of the 1958 Walt Disney Presents Christmas special, “From All of Us to All of You.”
Dec. 24, 1960 – Pixar animator Glenn McQueen was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He would be the supervising animator for “A Bug’s Life,” “Toy Story 2,” and “Monsters, Inc.”
Dec. 24, 1961 – Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color aired “The Great Cat Family” on ABC-TV.
Dec. 24, 1967 – Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color aired the holiday episode “ From All of Us to All of You.”
Dec. 24, 1970 – Disney’s animated film “The Aristocats” was released.
Dec. 24, 1971 – The “Flight to the Moon” attraction opened in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom in WDW. ( Closed Apr. 15, 1975) (It would be replaced by “Alien Encounter.”)
Dec. 24, 1972 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired “A Present for Donald” on ABC-TV.
Dec. 24, 1989 – The Magical World of Disney aired “A Muppet Family Christmas” on NBC-TV.
Dec. 24, 1995 - Horizons reopened after having all General Electric references removed.
