Dec. 20, 1956 – The Disney film “Westward Ho the Wagons” was released.
Dec. 20, 1958 – Disneyland presents its first Candlelight Processional Parade. Narrated by actor Dennis Morgan (on his birthday), was performed on Main Street and in Town Square. The even featured Christmas Carols and the re-telling of the birth of Jesus through the gospels.
Dec. 20, 1961 – Disney’s Goofy cartoon “Aquamania” was released.
Dec. 20, 1968 – Disney’s animated film “Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day” was released.
Dec. 20, 1968 – The Disney film “The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit” was released.
Dec. 20, 1971 – Roy O. Disney (Walt’s brother and business partner) died at the age of 78 of a cerebal hemorrhage in Burbank, Ca. With both Walt and Roy gone, the board of directors for the first time would have to turn outside the Disney family for leadership. Donn Tatum would become Chairman of Walt Disney Productions and Card Walker President of Walt Disney Productions.
Dec. 20, 1972 – The Disney film “Snowball Express” was released.
Dec. 20, 1972 – Disney’s Documentary Featurette film “The Magic of Walt Disney World” was released.
Dec. 20, 1974 – Disney’s animated film “Winnie the Pooh & Tigger Too,” was released.
Dec. 20, 1975 – Disney’s Theatrical release of “Fantasy on Skis” and “Snowball Express” took place.
