Dec. 5, 1956 – Big brother Walt writes his sister Ruth her annual birthday letter. He describes his strenuous work schedule, his daughter Sharon and her modeling career, and his other daughter Diane and her growing family. As usual a check was enclosed for Ruth to spend on “some feminine luxury.”
Dec. 5, 1958 – The Walt Disney Presents-TV series aired the 3rd episode of “Elfago Baca: Lawman or Gunman.”
Dec. 5, 1965 – Singer-songwriter John Rzeznik (of the Goo-Goo Dolls), and would compose and perform 2 songs as the voice of Jim Hawkins in Disney’s 2002 animated feature “Treasure Planet,” was born in Buffalo, N.Y.
Dec. 5, 1966 – The ill Walt Disney celebrated his last birthday while in the hospital.
Dec. 5, 1971 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired part-2 of “The Dingaling Lynx Lefty” on NBC-TV.
Dec. 5, 1981 – The Walt Disney TV series aired “A Magical Disney Christmas.”
Dec. 5, 1985 – The city of Anaheim saluted Disneyland called “Skyfest”(on the birthday of Walt Disney) with a world-record release of one million balloons over the park. The 70,000 pounds of helium used was enough to lift 190 people into the air.
Dec. 5, 1986 – “Walt Disney Recognition Day” was officially celebrated in the U.S.
Dec. 5, 1987 – The Disney Channel aired “The Christmas Visitor.”
Dec. 5, 1987 - Magic Journey’s opened at the Magic Kingdom.

And the BIGGEST day in Disney history...December 5,1901....Walter Elias Disney is born. For all the kids out there.:D
