We booked a stay at the Poly for 5 nights in April..arriving on March 31. We got in on the free dining for that week prior to them changing the dates. DH and I disagree on if we make changes. We know we still have to arrive on the 31st, does anyone know if we can either shorten the trip by one night, or change resorts all together if we can keep the free dining promo?

You could shorten the trip and keep your promo. If you change resorts, though, probably not unless there are rooms available with that discount at the other resort.

Thanks Chris..that is what DH was thinking..the promo code for free dining is technically not aval. any longer with an arrival of March 31 so finding a room with that promo code could be difficult..yes?

Exactly. If they change the dates they will still honor any reservations previously made, but if you change resorts, then you have to go with any offer currently available.

I agree w/ Chris...shortening the trip shouldn't be an issue. As far as transferring your free dining promo to another resort, not so sure. Ususally there are only a certain number of rooms for each promo at each resort. I don't know if it would matter that the promo you have is over or not. I'd think as long as the resort you want to switch to has 'promo' rooms still open you could probably switch. Best thing to do would be call for and ask. It can't hurt to try  Just be sure you specify you want to keep free dining promo just move resorts.

Thanks for the input. I guess this means we just have to hunker down and make sure we make it to the Poly. At this point the only way we would change resorts is if another discount/pin comes our way. To have any type of discount over spring break is pretty good and we don't want to loose the free dining we have right now. We have never stayed at the Poly and really want to see what everyone out there loves so much.

Depending on how big your family is, if you've got free dining for 5 nights, it's probably going to be a bigger discount than any pin or other discount that gets put out there. We are a family of four, and even if we stayed at the Poly for 5 nights at a 40% discount, (savings of about $700) the free dining for 5 nights saves us about $800, based on how we typically eat and get snacks.

If you shorten your trip by a night, then you could probably change resorts and depending on the discount, come out even.. but again, that's going by my numbers for a family of 4. I think the smaller the family, the more the room discount becomes advantageous.

Regardless -- have a GREAT time!

We did -- we had a wonderful time! Glad to hear yours was as nice... we got awfully lucky w/ the weather, didn't we?? Where did you guys end up at AKL? Did you go to Victoria Falls Lounge at all?? It'd be hilarious if we were there at the same time and totally missed you.... ;)

Blythe..yep weather was good..that Chris guy sure knows his stuff!! We were on the 4th floor, room 4519, about half way down the Zebra trail. We had been down the Kudu trail last time so we requested this view for a change. It was wonderful as usual..saw more giraffes than last time which was nice and we had a group of 12-15 Tommie Gazelles off the balcony most nights. We didn't go to the lounge. We were club level so we would head up there for an drink or snack. Walked the little bridge over the lounge and often thought that it was a nice seating area though.

How nice! We were on the 4th floor, as well, but on the giraffe trail, and we did a pool view room this time, which was wonderful. We had Savannah last time as an unexpected treat/upgrade and it was terrific... the kids LOVED it!! But we really liked the pool view and will probably do it again... we got lucky with a really nice view. (I'd have loved seeing the gazelles every day, though... they're adorable!) And how fun you guys were club level... didn't realize that gave you your own bar! Nice!! Victoria Falls was fun... we'd never gone there before, and we enjoyed the bartender who was working. (and the chocolate martinis.... yummm... ;))

Garsh, thanks!...

She's right... you rock these forecasts!

Blythe: It is so funny you mention the pool views, a couple of different times we were sitting in the hot tub and I mentioned how nice I thought they were. DH loves animals and wouldn't consider staying without that view. We both thought the rooms that looked out at the walk way to the bus stop would be strange though. The club lounge up on 6 doesn't have a bar, but they offer beer and wine and cordials in the evening. It is nice and not that much more money to stay club than a savanah view.
