Nov. 2, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Anything Can Happen Day” on ABC-TV.
Nov. 2, 1955 – The Disneyland TV series presented part 1 of the live-action movie “The Story of Robin Hood.”
Nov. 2, 1963 – The Dapper Dans sang with Julie Andrews and Wally Boag at a special Disneyland press-only event on the Golden Horseshoe stage to promote next year’s release of “Mary Poppins.”
Nov. 2, 1966 – Walt Disney checked into St. Joseph Hospital, complaining of shortness of breath, and pain in his left leg and neck. X-rays detected a walnut-sized cancerous spot on his left lung. Although immediate surgery was advised Disney left the hospital to attend to studio business for a few days.
Nov. 2, 1975 – Actor, musician and voice actor Danny Cooksey was born in Moore, Ok. He supplied the voices of Disney’s Dave the Barbarian, Emperor Stanley for the Meet the Robinsons video game, and Jake for episodes of Kim Possible.
Nov. 2, 1986 – In N.Y.C., a 12-by-16 inch celluloid, from Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” was purchased for $30,800.
Nov. 2, 1986 – The Disney TV show aired “Ask Max.”
Nov. 2, 1986 – Popular voice over actor Paul Frees, known for his Haunted Mansion narration, passed away in Ca. He also voiced several pirates in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. (In TV commercials, Frees voiced the Pillsbury Doughboy and the elf who calls out to the Jolly Green Giant.)
Nov. 2, 1989 – WDW announced plans to build the “Dixie Landings Resort. (Dixie Landings would open in 1992; and later become known as “Port Orleans Riverside” in 2001).
Nov. 2, 1992 – The “Mission to Mars” attraction in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland closed.
