Oct. 31, 1953 – This weeks issue of Saturday Evening Post featured part-1 of the article “The Amazing Story of Walt Disney” by Jack Alexander. It also featured a series of color photos of walt and his family & friends at their California home.
Oct. 31, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “ Today is Fun With Music Day” on ABC-TV.
Oct. 31, 1955 - The daily comic strip “Scamp” started about the mischievous young son of Lady and the Tramp.
Oct. 31, 1956 – The Disney TV show aired “The Plausible Impossible.”
Oct. 31, 1957 – Disney’s 7th Zorro episode “The Ghost of the Mission” aired on ABC-TV.
Oct. 31, 1958 – The Walt Disney Presents TV show aired episode 1 of “Texas John Slaughter.
Oct. 31, 1966 – The “Pirates of the Caribbean River” was filled with water for the 1st time at Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. (The attraction would open March 18, 1967.)
Oct. 31, 1971 – Disney aired part-1 of the 2-part television movie “The Strange Monster of Strawberry Cove.” (Part 2 aired Nov. 7, 1971)
Oct. 31, 1976 – The Disney TV show aired “The Secret of Old Glory Mine.”
Oct. 31, 1977 – Director, writer, producer and narrator James “Jim” Algar retired after 43 years with the Walt Disney Studios. He produced live-action films about animals and nature, worked on 26 one-hour episodes of “The Wonderful World of Disney” TV series, and contributed to theme park attractions such as “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” and “The Hall of Presidents.” Algar would be named a Disney Legend in 1998.
