Oct. 29, 2002 – Pixar animator Glenn McQueen passed away at age 41. (The supervising animator for “A Bug’s Life,” “Toy Story 2,” and “Monsters Inc.,” Pixar’s next feature “Finding Nemo” would be dedicated to him. The main character in “Cars,” Lightning McQueen, would be named after him.
Oct. 29, 2005 – Actress/singer Laura Michelle Kelly left the West End production of “Mary Poppins” after more than 400 performances of Mary.
Oct. 29, 2006 – The “National Fantasy Fun Club” (NFFC), a Disney enthusiast fan club, held its 1st annual convention at the Walt Disney World Swan. (3-day event)
Oct. 29, 2007 – At the Lloyd Center Mall in Portland, Or., John Lasseter and his Pixar crew held a test – audience screening for their next release, “Wall-E.”
Oct. 29, 2007 – Members and friends of the longest running stage show in history the “Golden Horseshoe Revue,” reunited at the Walt Disney Studios to honor Disney Legend Fulton Burley. Burley, an Irish tenor who for 25 years starred in Disneyland’s “Golden Horseshoe Revue,” had passed away last May.
Oct. 29, 2007 – “Welcome: Portraits of America,” a multimedia presentation created by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts debuted simultaneously at George Bush International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. The 7-minute presentation, aimed at welcoming international travelers to the U.S., is an initiative of the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security and the U.S. Dept. of State.
Oct. 29, 2007 – The PGA Tour “Children’s Miracle Network Clasic” began at the WDW Resort. (Ran through Nov. 4, 2007)
Oct. 29, 2009 – The Disney Cruise Line announced specific plans for its newest cruise ship the “Disney Dream” set to sail Jan. 26, 2011. Eighty-eight percent of the 1, 250 staterooms are outside rooms, and 90 percent of those rooms will have a private verandah.
Oct. 29, 2009 – Disney’s “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure” was released on Blu-ray and DVD.
Oct. 29, 2010 – The Disney Resort marked a milestone in the expansion of Disney California Adventure, by erecting the top peak of “Cars Land.” (Set to open in 2012)
