Oct. 23, 1960 – Walt Disney Presents aired “All About Magic” on ABC-TV.
Oct. 23, 1964 – The first 5-acre lot for the WDW project was purchased by the Ayefour Corp. Ayefour (a spin on the name Interstate 4) is one of many puppet companies setup by Disney to secretly buy land in Florida. If news of Disney’s new resort leaks out, the land prices will soar.
Oct. 23, 1966 – The Disney TV show aired episode 1 of “Gallegher Goes West: Showdown with the Sundown Kid.”
Oct. 23, 1973 – The Disney TV special “Walt Disney-A Golden Anniversary Salute” a tribute to Walt Disney Productions 50th anniversary aired on ABC.
Oct. 23, 1982 – The “Sunrise Terrace Restaurant” opened in Communicore West in Epcot at WDW.
Oct. 23, 1982 – The “Epcot Center: The Opening Celebration” directed by Dwight Hemion, hosted by Danny Kaye, and also featured celebrity guests such as Drew Barrymore, Roy Clark, Marie Osmond, Eric Severeid, and the West Point Glee Club, aired on TV.
Oct. 23, 1982 - Carnival de Lumiere made its debut in World Showcase at Epcot in WDW.
Oct. 23, 1985 - The Nine Dragons Restaurant opened in the China Pavilion at Epcot.
Oct. 23, 1997 – John LeFante launched the “Save Mr. Toad” website the day after the Orlando Sentinel reported the attraction would close at WDW.
Oct. 23, 1999 – Epcot’s 4th Annual “International Food & Wine Festival” began in WDW. (Ran through Nov. 21st)
