Sept. 17, 1961 – The ABC-TV series Walt Disney Presents aired for the first time. The following week the series will be called Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color”…and air on NBC
Sept. 17, 1967 – The Disney TV show “The Not So Lonely Lighthouse Keeper,” aired.
Sept. 17, 1989 – Disney received Emmy Awards for “Richard Mulligan” (Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Empty Nest)), and “Walter Painter” (Choreography (Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park Grand Opening)).
Sept. 17, 1991 – The Disney TV series “Home Improvement” debuted on ABC. (Ended Sept. 17, 1999)
Sept. 17, 1991 – Disney’s pop group “The Party” released their second album “In The Meantime, In Between Time,” on Hollywood Records. The group consists of Disney Channel Mouseketeers.
Sept. 17, 1993 – The Disney TV series “Countdown at the Neon Armadillo” began airing. (Ended Dec. 12, 1993)
Sept. 17, 1994 – Disney’s animated TV series “Aladdin” began airing on CBS. (Ended Aug. 29, 1996)
Sept. 17, 1995 – A Golden Horseshoe Revue Reunion took place at the Wells Fargo Theater in Ca. Performers Wally Boag, Fulton Burley, and Betty Taylor (who all starred in the popular Disneyland Stage show)
Sept. 17, 1996 – Disney’s half-hour TV series “Life’s Work” began airing on ABC. (Ended July 29, 1997)
Sept. 17, 1998 – The world preview of Walt Disney Theatrical Productions’ musical “Elaborate Lives: The Legend of Aida” took place at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Ga.
