Sept. 16, 1987 – The Disney TV series “The Oldest Rookie” began airing on CBS.
Sept. 16, 1991 – The “Muppets on Location-The Days of Swine and Roses” Live Show debuted in Disney-MGM Studios at WDW. (Ended Jan. 23, 1994)
Sept. 16, 1992 – Nicholas Jerry “Nick” Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers, was born in Dallas, Tx. At the age of 6 he would be discovered while singing at a barber shop and be referred to a professional show business manager. The following year, Jonas would begin performing on Broadway, which in 2002 would include a stint as Chip in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”
Sept. 16, 1993 – The Disney TV series “The Sinbad Show” began airing on FOX. (Ended July 28, 1994)
Sept. 16, 1993 – The Disneyana Convention 1993 kicked off for 4-days at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Ca.
Sept. 16, 1995 – The Disney TV series “Brotherly Love” debuted on NBC. (Ended Apr. 1, 1996)
Sept. 16, 1995 – Disney’s TV series “Maybe This Time” began airing on ABC. (Ended Feb. 17, 1996)
Sept. 16, 1995 – Disney’s animated TV series “The Lion King’s Timon & Pumbaa” began airing on CBS. (Ended Mar. 29, 1997)
Sept. 16, 1997 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “Silent Trigger” was released direct-to-video.
Sept. 16, 1997 – Walt Disney Records reissued the soundtrack to the animated feature “The Jungle Book.” The compact disc included a recorded interview with the Sherman Brothers, demo material, and two rare songs from the original 1969 record album. Also reissued on this day was the soundtrack to the animated feature “Dumbo.” This disc featured an instrumental version of “Spread Your Wings” performed by composer Oliver Wallace (who wrote a majority of the film’s music.)
