Is there still the smokehouse at WL?

When we stayed there way back in '97, we had a fifth floor woods-view room overlooking the smokehouse. It was neat to smell the meats being smoked. We've stayed in rooms overlooking the courtyard during our last two stays, so I hadn't been able to see the smookehouse. So is it still there and still in use?

Yes, as far as I know.

We stayed in a standard view room on that side of the lodge (6th floor, facing MK) in 2007 and the smokehouse was still there and being used.

Since the BBQ food at Whispering Canyon Cafe is mostly smoked (the meats), I have to assume they still use the smokehouse.

I ate at Whispering Canyon a few months ago in May. The meats were delicious and definitely freshly smoked!

Whoa! The smoky smell is one of the things I love most about the Wilderness Lodge. I had no idea there were rooms from which you could get that smell from the smokehouse! Can you say ROOM REQUEST? :cloud9:
