Aug. 21, 1999 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “Genius” premiered.
Aug. 21, 2003 – WDW celebrated with its 50 millionth guest at the water parks.
Aug. 21, 2003 – Walt Disney Co. Vice Chairman Roy Disney’s Family trust agreed to sell up to 7.5 million shares of the 17.3 million shares of his Disney holdings to credit Suisse First Boston representing 43 percent of his stake in the second largest U.S. media company, which we received $125 million in the stock sale.
Aug. 21, 2004 – A new half-hour animated series “Brandy & Mr. Whiskers” premiered on the Disney Channel.
Aug. 21, 2004 – Mickey Mouse and Radio Disney welcomed the Mickey Statue Tour in Minnesota. Fourteen (of the 75) Mickey Statues were unveiled at the Galleria Edina.
Aug. 21, 2005 – At Westville Trumball Mall in Trumball, Ct., Disney celebrated the grand opening of the first in a series of completely remodeled Disney Store locations.
Aug. 21, 2007 – The “Muppet Mobile Lab,” featuring robotic Muppets Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his able assistant Beaker riding a two-wheeled rocket ship, interact with guests at Epcot. The lab is part of a play test that Walt Disney Imagineering is running for the next few weeks, giving the research and development staff a chance to try out more advanced robotics, interactive and transportation technologies, mixed with human comedy talent.
Aug. 21, 2008 – Tropical Storm Fay stalled along the eastern coast off Florida near Port Canaveral, causing the Port Authority to temporarily shutdown operations.
Aug. 21, 2010 – “Spring-a-Leak,” a 2,400-square-foot water playground opened at Disney Cruise Line’s Castaway Cay.
Aug. 21, 2010 – The Creative Arts Emmys were announced with ABC’s holiday program “Prep & Landing” winning 4 awards.
