Aug. 2, 1999 – Disney’s newest ship the Disney Wonder was escorted into Port Canaveral for the 1st time, by its sister ship the Disney Magic.
Aug. 2, 1999 – Disney’s comedy series “Thanks” began airing on CBS-TV. (Ended Sept. 6, 1999)
Aug. 2, 1999 – The new Disney Wonder Cruise Ship arrived at Port Canaveral, Fl.
Aug. 2, 2001 – Dick Van Dyke, songwriter Richard Sherman, and Julie Andrews rededicated Soundstage 2 in Burbank, Ca. to The Julia Andrews Stage. Andrews filmed Disney’s “Mary Poppins” and “The Princess Diaries,” at this location.
Aug. 2, 2001 – Guy Williams, the star of Disney’s Zorro series, was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Aug. 2, 2002 – “The Bangles” performed two shows at Disney’s California Adventure.
Aug. 2, 2002 – The Disney/Touchstone Picture film “Signs” was released.
Aug. 2, 2004 – Filming began on the Disney film “Glory Road.”
Aug. 2, 2005 – This day’s Disney DVD releases included “The Boatniks,” “Toby Tyler,” “Johnny Tremain,” and “The World’s Greatest Athlete.”
Aug. 2, 2005 – The Radio Disney CD “Move It” was released.
