July 9, 1956 – Actor Tom Hanks, the voice of Sheriff Woody in both Disney ‘Toy Story” movies, and appeared in the 1994 TV special “The Wonderful World of Disney: 40 Years of Television Magic,” was born in Concord, Ca.
July 9, 1958 – Disney’s People and Places featurette film “The Ama Girls” was released.
July 9, 1975 – The Disney film “One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing” was released.
July 9, 1976 – The Disney film “Treasure of Matecumbe” was released.
July 9, 1976 – Actor, director, producer Fred Savage, best known for his role as Kevin Arnold on the long-running TV series The Wonder Years, was born in Chicago, Il. He lent his voice to Disney Channel’s “Kim Possible” and is the narrator of the 1998 “The Jungle Book: Mowgli’s Story.” Savage has also directed episodes of “Phil of the Future,” “That’s So Raven,” and “Hannah Montana.”
July 9, 1982 – Disney’s 1st film attempting to be made with computer graphics “Tron” premiered. Then Disney CEO Ron Miller and Walt’s son-in-law got the nickname “Tron” Miller due to its poor box office performance.
July 9, 1986 – Kiely Williams, a member of Disney’s “The Cheetah Girls,” was born in Alexandria, Va.
July 9, 1989 – The Disney Channel Premiere Film “Great Expectations” aired.
July 9, 1990 – Disney’s unsold TV pilot series “Turner & Hooch” aired on NBC-TV.
July 9, 1991 – Actor/singer Michael Musso, Oliver Oken on Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana,” was born in Garland, Tx. He’s also the voice of Jeremy for Disney Channel’s animated series “Phineas and Ferb.”
