July 8, 1994 – The attraction “Legend of the Lion King” opened in Fantasyland at WDW’s Magic Kingdom.
July 8, 1995 – Disney’s live stage show “Beauty and the Beast” opened its 1st international show at The Princess Theatre, in Melbourne, Australia.
July 8, 1997 – Michael Eisner attended the 1st preview of Disney’s Broadway stage show “The Lion King.”
July 8, 2002 – Academy Award winner and Disney animator/director Ward Kimball, one of Walt’s “Nine Old Men” died at the age of 88 of natural causes at the Arcadia Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, Ca.
July 8, 2004 - An African elephant calf was born at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Kianga, weighing 230 pounds, is the daughter of 18-year old Vasha.
July 8, 2005 – A joint statement from The Walt Disney Co. and Roy E. Disney and Stanley P. Gold announced that they have agreed to put aside their differences.
July 8, 2005 – The Disney/Touchstone Picture film “Dark Water” was released.
July 8, 2007 – The Disney Broadway musical “Tarzan,” based on the animated film, played its final performance at the Richard Rodgers Theater in N.Y.C. Running since May 2006, the musical has played 35 previews and 486 regular performances.
July 8, 2008 – The new 706 room, Victorian-themed hotel, “Tokyo Disneyland Hotel” opened to guests.
July 8, 2008 – Walt Disney Records released “Country Sings Disney” featuring such artist as Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Faith Hall, SHeDAISy, and Brad Paisley.
