July 2, 1981 – The Disney film “Condorman” had its initial release in England. (U.S. release was Aug. 7, 1981)
July 2, 1983 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “Son-in-Law” was released.
July 2, 1985 – Actress Ashley Tisdale was born in Monmouth, N.J. Her Disney credits include the Disney Channel movie “High School Musical,” and the series “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and the animated feature “A Bug’s Life.”
July 2, 1986 – Disney’s animated film “The Great Mouse Detective” was released in theaters. The score was written by composer Henry Mancini.
July 2, 1986 – Actress Lindsay Lohan, who has credits in Disney’s 1988 “The Parent Trap,” and the 2003 “Freaky Friday,” was born in N.Y.C..
July 2, 1993 – “Aladdin Oasis” opened in Disneyland’s Adventureland. (Replaced Tahitian Terrace)
July 2, 1993 – The Disney/Hollywood Picture film “Son-in-Law” was released.
July 2, 1997 – The newly expanded (from 10 screens to 24 screens) “AMC Theaters Pleasure Island 24” had its grand opening. All the proceeds on this day would go for “Give Kids the World.”
July 2, 1999 – Actor and Disney legend Dick Van Dyke played the Deagan Organ Chimes with the Dapper Dans during a Special barbershop performance at the Carnation Plaza Garden Stage in Disneyland. The performance was part of a ceremony naming Disneyland’s Main Street U.S.A. an Honorary Chapter of the Barbershop Society, with all the Dapper Dans, past and present, as founding members.
July 2, 1999 – The Disney film “Summer of Sam,” and directed by Spike Lee, was released.
