June 17, 1957 – “Holidayland,” a picnic and tent area located to the left of Disneyland’s main gate, opened.
June 17, 1971 – The “Year of 100 Million Smiles” came to life at 11:13 am when Valerie Suldo of New Brunswick, N.J. walked through the turnstiles at Disneyland becoming its 100 millionth guest.
June 17, 1972 – The “Main Street Electrical Parade” debuted for the 1st time at Disneyland. (Ended Nov. 25, 1996)
June 17, 1977 – Jason Minor, a member of the 90’s TV show “The All New Mickey Mouse Club,” was born in Maryland.
June 17, 1987 – Walt Disney Pictures released “Benji the Hunted” in theaters.
June 17, 1990 – Disney’s unsold pilot “Appearances” aired on NBC.
June 17, 1994 – Disney sent a team of artists to China to gather info for an upcoming new animated feature based on “The Legend of Mulan.” Over the next 2 weeks, the team would visit Datong Luoyang, Xian, Jiayuguan, Dunhuang, and Guilin.
June 17, 1997 – A touring exhibition of design art (from the Walt Disney Imagineering archives) called “Designing Disney’s Theme Parks: The Architecture of Reassurance” was displayed at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal.
June 17, 2000 – The Disney Channel series “Even Stevens” debuted.
June 17, 2000 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “Stepsister from Planet Weird” aired.
