Anyone know why MK is closing early on Sept 15th?

I received a call from the CRT desk & the CM informed me that they had to cancel my ressie due to the fact that MK is closing at 6:00 that day. There's no special events listed on Disney's website so I'm wondering if anyone knows the reason.
At the time of the call I was asked if I wanted to change my ressie but I wasn't sure because I had to check my itinerary.
Now that I look online, there's nothing available for dinner on the days we could go. :mad:
I wonder if they will fit me in somehow since they changed their park schedule after my ADR.

Hmmm, Night of Joy is the 9th and 10th this year. MNSSHP is on the 13th and 16th, but not the 15th...Off the top of my head I can't think of any other public events there could be...

Exactly. That's why I'm so confused. I wonder if a celebrity is renting the park for a birthday or something like that.

I've heard, unconfirmed, it's a press event. Could be for the 40th which is two weeks later. Disney does that type of thing with some regularity.

WDW won't do that with full parks, or so I read somewhere, maybe here. I think it happens now and then at Disneyland, but they've never closed a full park for a celebrity at WDW.

Well< I guess it doesn't matter now because the CM from CRT called me back and fit me in for the 11th instead so all is not lost. But I'm still disappointed that, that is our last day in the MK & we won't get to stay late nor see Wishes a final time.

Ahhhh! I was planning on going to MK that day too!!! Oh well, I'll probably just keep my plans and head off to one of the water parks in the afternoon. I'll probably be too pooped after that to go back to a park anyway!
