Noticed some 40th anniversary gear at World of Disney last week, but nuthin' else.

Either they are doing a really good job keeping their secrets, or they are going to take a pass on the 40 and concentrate on the 50th Anniversary.

But, one would think they would try to capitalize on the 40th...even as an enticement to get more people into WDW. Hmmmm. It makes one wonder. :confused:

Early May - 40th merchandise already getting stocked and it's ADORABLE - had to hold myself back and not buy everything I liked to save some for November - My personal favorite - a huge 40th Anniversary puzzle that I'm going to put together and then frame - it has so many elements that I love, from characters to events to the orange Florida bird. I didn't hear anything about any upcoming official celebration but I have high hopes! Seems just like yesterday that we were on our first trip (as adults!) with our kids...and it was the 25th anniversary. November will be my 30th trip since, woo-hoo.

The merchandise has been out since the beginning of the year. And I love it and have bought my fair share.

That said, and maybe I'm being cranky, but I don't really think 40 years is all that big of deal. I remember what a huge deal 50 was for Disneyland, and I'm totally looking forward to that for WDW. There is enough exciting coming up for WDW with the Fantasyland expansion. I don't see making a huge deal out of the 40th. :shrug:

40 is cool for us, just 'cause DH turned 40 this year too.

I don't see them doing much of anything by way of celebration for the 40th. Looks like just merchandise and of course them working on the Fantasyland expansion. Merchandise will be a great way to remember the trip though. *glances over at 15 year anniversary pennant still hanging on wall up above EPCOT Center pennant featuring Figment AND Dreamfinder on their flying machine bought the same year* :figment:
