May 6, 1989 – The decomposing body of actor Guy Williams, who was best known for his role on Disney’s “Zorro”, was found in his apartment in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He apparently died of a heart attack a week earlier, and police discovered his body after neighbors complained about a strong odor coming from his apartment.
May 6, 1989 – The Disney Channel series “Teen Win, Lose or Draw” began airing.
May 6, 1990 – The Disney TV show aired “The Muppets Celebrate at Walt Disney World.”
May 6, 1990 – The 100th and final episode of “DuckTales” aired on TV.
May 6, 1991 – The Walt Disney Company became part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
May 6, 1995 – Disney’s remake and 2-hour TV movie “Freaky Friday” aired.
May 6, 2004 – The El Capitan Theatre, launched a special 10-day salute to Walt Disney Pictures 1982 landmark computer animated feature, Tron.
May 6, 2005 – Legendary Disney artist and writer Joe Grant passed away before his 97th birthday at his home in Glendale, Ca. His work ranged from the early classics like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Dumbo,” to modern animated features such as “The Lion King,” “Pocahontas,” “Mulan,” and “The Incredibles.”
May 6, 2005 – Pioneer Disney Artist/Storyman, Co-Story Director, Co-Writer, and Designer, Joe Grant, passed away at age 96 at his Glendale, Ca. home. His Disney credits include “Fantasia,” “Dumbo,” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
May 6, 2005 – The Disney film starring Martin Freeman, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” was released in theaters.
